Deere & Company, founded in 1837 (collectively called John Deere), has grown from a one-man blacksmith shop into a corporation that today does business around the world and employs approximately 56,000 people.


How We're Organized
John Deere consists of four major business segments (agricultural equipment, commercial & consumer equipment, construction & forestry and credit).


Agricultural Equipment — John Deere is the world's leading manufacturer of
farm equipment. The company offers a complete line of farming services and solutions with products primarily sold and serviced through the industry's premier dealer network.

Commercial & Consumer Equipment — John Deere produces and markets North America's broadest line of lawn and garden tractors, mowers, golf course equipment, and other outdoor power products. John Deere Landscapes provides irrigation equipment and nursery supplies to landscape-service professionals across the United States.


Construction & Forestry — The Company is the world's leading manufacturer of forestry equipment and is a major manufacturer of construction equipment in North America.


Credit — John Deere Credit is one of the largest equipment finance companies in the United States and has operations in 17 countries. In addition to providing retail, wholesale and lease financing to help facilitate the sale of John Deere agricultural, construction and forestry, and commercial and consumer equipment, John Deere Credit also offers revolving credit, operating loans to farmers, financing for agribusinesses, crop insurance (as a Managing General Agent — MGA) and, debt and equity financing and project management expertise within the wind energy arena.
